Gospel Lk 24:46-53

Jesus said to his disciples:

What a Great and fun afternoon and evening!  We were able to buy tickets to the Sacramento Kings final game at Sleep Train / Arco Arena before they move into their new Downtown Arena, The Golden One Center, for next season! .... And the Kings go out with a bang, defeating the OKC Thunder in an awesome game, 114-112!

Christopher is learning this song in 8th Grade Band for an upcoming concert.  He shared this video and lyrics with me this morning as we were getting ready for school & work.  I love it so much.  It really ties in to the "All About My Catholic Faith" series I have been podcasting about the last couple weeks.  It really talks about the power of God, the Grace of the Holy Spirit, and the redeeming Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ!  There is one line that Christopher asked me about.  "Here I raise my Ebenezer".  This comes from the Bible.  In Samuel 7:12, Samuel raises a stone as a memorial of God's help to the Israelite's victory over the pagan Philistines.  As he raised the stone, which became a memorial, he called the stone "Ebenezer" which means "Stone of Help".  When Israelites looked at this stone, they were reminded of God's help to them during their time of need.

Pope Francis / Donald Trump - 2

What Pope Francis said:  A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.  This is not in the Gospel.  As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that.  I only say that this man is not Christian if he said things like that.  We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt.

I believe as the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that we should secure our borders, protect our national security, and welcome legal immigration. We can welcome the stranger, secure the border, and demand that our laws be respected at the same time. 

Donald Trump may indeed be a faithful Christian, however, his statements during the campaign would lead one to believe that he would not be an advocate of the teachings of the Original, True Christian Church that Jesus founded.  

I encourage everyone to pray for the Church and Pope Francis, as well as the protection of Catholic rights in the United States.  May God Bless America.

Rams move to Los Angeles Approved

As a St. Louis native living in northern California, I am saddened for the St. Louis region on hearing the news today.  The NFL owners voted to allow the Rams to move to Los Angeles.  It's too bad that neither the St. Louis Football Cardinals or the St. Louis Rams could consistently put contenders on the field during their respective time in the gateway city.  Despite that, both teams were supported very well until Bidwell and Kroenke started toying with the fans' emotions.  The same thing nearly happened last year to the Sacramento Kings fans who had owners that were first trying to move the team, and then tried to sell the team to an ownership group that was going to move the team to Seattle.  Sacramento Kings fans and city/county officials fought just as hard as those officials in St. Louis city and county to keep the team from selling/moving. Thankfully, the owners of the NBA voted on the side of the fans.  The Kings will be moving into their new arena at the start of next season.

Baptism of Jesus

Today, we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus.  Jesus, being the sinless third person of the Trinity did not need baptism to forgive his sins.  He instead humbled himself to be baptized by John. "Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, "Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.""
Luke 3:21,22

I pray for those close to me who have not been baptized to one day soon realize the glory of this wonderful Sacrament.  For those already baptized, may you listen to our Lord's call!

Homework Challenge Overcome

A great lesson last night doing homework.  Christopher wanted to give up on a problem similar to this one.  He thought it was best to stop and ask the teacher tomorrow.  I told him that if he stuck with the problem that I was sure he would figure it out....and of course I was at his side for support and direction.  He soon found another example in his math book that led him to solving his problem and finishing his homework.  Great Job.  Way to stick with it!

Dragonvale Frostival Event is Ending

The Dragonvale Winter Frostival Event is nearly over.  The Two Cj's show the Dazzling and Verglace Dragons that they got during the last few days of the event.  We look forward to Backflip Studios coming out with their next event!

Sacramento Kings - Last Season at Sleep Train Arena

We spent the afternoon watching the Sacramento Kings beat the Phoenix Suns at Sleep Train Arena.  This game was a national televised game on NBA Channel, and was also being broadcast live to the UK!  Pretty Cool.  This was also Family Day at the Kings game.  It was terrific to see so many families having a great time at the game.
